After playing for almost 25 years, I left the 'rough' of the Rugby field and moved to the golfing fairways in 1985.
I have only ever been a member of Hinckley Golf Club and was honoured to be Captain in 2009. I was invited to join the Hinckley Board in November 2015 and was appointed Chairman in October 2016.
Golf Development Director
I have been a member of the club for around 20 years. My main role is to look after the development of players whether that be Juniors, Ladies, Men or Club members. I work as an IT Manager in the world of Commercial Insurance and this brings many years of experience in commercial management to the club, which in the main is run by volunteers. One of my main aims over the next 3-5 years is to grow the grass root side of the golf club, taking Juniors as young as 5 through to 18 and letting them experience, and where possible develop, their golfing skills and become valued members of the club.
I’m proud to say that I have been a continuous member of this golf club since 1990. I have always enjoyed playing our course and always with a sense of ownership; the more so after working with ‘Tudgies’ original Course Improvement Team to plant hundreds of trees and shrubs around the course.
Along the way, I have enjoyed more ‘B’ and ‘C’ Team club matches than I can ever remember, played under many different team Captains and heard a lifetime of good and bad after dinner speeches and risqué jokes.
Hitherto, I was a long-standing member of the silent majority among the membership who rock up every week to play their golf, enjoyed a drink with the guys, kept my nose clean and tried not to say anything too controversial. Well, I enjoyed that free ride for too long and now I feel that I want to put something back, by working with this Board and the membership to continuously improve the Golf Club.
Board meetings are also attended by the following invitee's:
