Seniors Captain

Howard Wilkinson

Howard was born in Manchester 1954, he moved accross to Hull in 1987 and then to Burbage in 1991 and retired in 2019.  A f ootball injury at 18 meant he had to find something else to play and decided to learn to pl ay golf - still learning at 70 !! He b ecame a member of Manchester Golf Club 1973, Hull Golf club and Hinckley Golf Club since 1991.   When not playing a round of golf, he enjoys gardening, walking and being with his  grandchildren

Seniors Vice Captain

David Grimley

David has been a member for over 40 years joining the original Burbage Common GC in my early 20's, he served on the committee down there, but cannot remember whether he was press ganged or co-opted on but 
was accepted and the journey began. After a few years he volunteered to stand in for a year as match secretary, whilst the current incumbent Mr Mike Bailey served his year as captain, 11 years later he resigned his post as match secretary having in those years also having been involved in changing the club from having a committee to a Council, to suit the new set up of Hinckley Golf Club Ltd, which was now run by a board of directors. Having bought shares in the new company David was invited to sit on the board of directors, which he served for 15 years with the last 9 as Chairman. He retired from the position in 2017 having taken early retirement, and handed the position to our current chairman Mr Barry Ayre. He has had the last 7 years happily playing in our senior's section.

Secretary 

Richard Wightman

Richard has been a member of Hinckley GC for about 40 years and before that was a junior member of Burbage Common GC in the 1960s which means his golf career goes back nearly 60 years. He has always  been a very keen Sportsman with Cricket, Hockey, Squash and Tennis being his other main sporting interests and also  badminton in more recent years.

Career wise Richard joined the Family Sports Retail business Wightmans in the 1970s after a short spell working for Spillers and was involved  in the change of direction for the Company into Fashion Clothing & Footwear and a change of name to Mission.
Now retired Golf is Richard’s only sporting activity but still follows various sports avidly. He is a season ticket holder at Leicester Tigers & a Club member at Leicester City FC.
Richard  is now Secretary of the Seniors Committee at HGC which looks after the interests of over 300 Senior Golfers.

Competitions Match Secretary

Brian d'Authreau

Brian has been a member of HGC for over 25 years after moving from what is now The Copeswood in Coventry, a 9 hole course originally owned by GEC. Brian has been an active member of the C team, B team and now Seniors in matches, and in 2020 he became Competitions Secretary for the Seniors Section.

Brian is widowed with one son Paul and two grandchildren, twin girls. His career was in telecommunications development, firstly hardware design and then Software working for GEC, GPT, Marconi and lastly Ericsson until his retirement in 2011 

Treasurer

Andy Lymn

Andy has been a member of Hinckley Golf Club since 2005, in 2021 He was Seniors Captain and since then has become the Treasurer for the Seniors Section. Before joining Hinckley he was a member of Purley Chase Golf Club.
for those that dont know, he is married to Sue and has 2 daughters (Katie and Amy) many of you will remember Katie as she used to work in the office at Hinckley Golf Club. Before retirement he used to work for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, finishing his time as a Watch Commander at Nuneaton Fire Station. During his time with WFRS he worked in various locations in Warwickshire,  including several years at Leamington Spa, Stratford upon Avon and also Rugby. Andy completed 34 years in the fire service before retirement, 30 wholetime with Warwickshire and 4 years part time Retained with Shropshire.
