Hinckley Golf Club

Women's Committee 2024

Lady Captain

Mandy Clarke

Mandy was introduced to golf in 2018, after joining Amy's course, which proved to be addictive - she is still here!  Mandy became a member through the 'Ladies New to Golf' Scheme in 2019.  She really enjoys the friendly and welcoming environment of Hinckley Golf Club and has made some good friends.  Each year Mandy aims to improve her handicap - it doesn't happen but that's golf - frustrating at times and rewarding at other times!

Lady Vice Captain

Becky Ginns

Becky has been a member of  Hinckley Golf Club for nearly 3 years and entered through the 'Women New to Golf' Scheme.  After spending the past 15 years waving her husband off to golf every Saturday morning, she decided to give it a try and hasn't looked back since.  She most loves the challenge of making every shot better than the previous one and tries to take a positive from every round.  As the Women in Golf Champion, she is a real advocate of "you can do anything if you put your mind to it" and would encourage everyone, no matter what their previous sporting experience or ability, to give golfing a try.

Lady President

Denise Mather

Honorary Secretary

Honorary Treasurer

Sandra Baum (Past Captain)

Sandra has been at Hinckley Golf Club for over 20 years, and has devoted her time as a committee member of the Club for over eight!

She was Lady Captain in 2017 and 2018 and continues to be an active member of both the Women's and Mixed Sections.

Competitions Secretary

Melissa Albray

Melissa has always been passionate for golf, and on occasions could be found hacking around municipal courses with like-minded friends.  Not wanting to take her hobby too seriously, she didn't join a club until she joined Hinckley Golf Club in 2021.  Now an active member of the Women's section, she also shares her love of golf with her husband and both have become an active part of the mixed section.

Melissa retired from National Grid in 2019, leaving her post of Editor of the Summer and Winter Outlook Report publications, for the energy industry.

Handicap Secretaries

Moira Gilchrist

Moira is Handicap Secretary for the Women's Section. She joined Hinckley Golf Club in 2019 as a 'Lady New to Golf' following Amy's excellent group lessons for beginners.

Since retiring from work as a pharmacist, she now has time for her other passion, travel. Swapping her clubs and golf bag for walking boots and backpack

Trophy Secretary

Jane Cooper

Jane has always been interested in watching or playing sport so after retiring from Hockey saw an opportunity to try a taster session at Hinckley Golf Club. I joined the 'Women into Golf' pathway and met some like minded Ladies.  Three years ago took the plunge to become a member and hasn't looked back since! I have joined the Committee this year in charge of Trophies and am looking forward to the year ahead continuing to support Lady Captain Ann Bancroft.

Committee Member

Sylvia Mitchell

After retiring from nursing in 2018, Slyvia joined Hinckley Golf Club and, over the past 4 years, she has started to fulfil her dream of learning to play golf and now plays on a regular basis both socially and in competitions.  Becoming a member of Hinckley Golf Club, Slyvia enjoys the social aspect of new friends, plenty of social events and the opportunity to meet new people and play at other clubs through the exchange days.  Sylvia has taken on the responsibility of arranging the Friendly Matches with other clubs for the Women's Section in 2023 and is looking forward to making these a great success.

Committee

Member

Jackie Davies

Jackie joined Hinckley Golf Club in 2021 following tuition through the 'Women New to Golf' program and became quite addicted.  As a family she attends many golf tournaments and has been fortunate to be selected as volunteer staff for the forthcoming Ryder Cup in Rome.  Jackie was thrilled to have received her first golf trophy for Most Improved Player this year.

She is a keen runner and manages a local women's running group, has completed the London Marathon and although semi-retired, she still enjoys her nursing role specialising in diabetes management and cancer care.
